Loads of New Dressers and Vanities and Desks, oh my!

As we get closer to Back to School season it looks like many of the vendors are bringing in great new dressers, vanities, and desks. Many have a great new paint job or have that great shabby and primitive peeling paint look. There are also quite a bit of mid century and Deco pieces in now that are in as great condition as they were back then. I tell ya for someone getting a first apartment or dorm room and trying to create their own unique style, the selection is overwhelming right now!
OOh and I also noticed loads of new chair in all styles and sizes.

So come on in to Rink Gallery and created your own Back to School stylish refuge!

Vintage inspired jewelry creations...

One of our vendors here at Rink has been taking old vintage jewelry bits and pieces (such an earring with no match or pendants with no clasp, etc) and fixing them up to create new vintage inspired jewelry. She even takes the time to rebead and replace stones and and has turned earrings into finger rings. I have attached a few samples of her pieces, but if you would like to see more of her work and keep up with her blog please check out www.vivaciousforvintage.blogspot.com

Salvaged Gloves and Dollheads

While many of our vendors come up with such great creative ideas , today I thought I would feature our vendor #53. The way she recycles these old gloves with missing mates and the broken doll heads is adorable. With the gloves she first handpaints the image on and then stuffs the glove and places it over either old stem glasses or old glass candle holders. She then coats the piece in a fabric stiffener to make it stand better and to protect the paint job. They make such great displays and you can even hang jewelry on them. For the doll heads she flips old plant pots over , gives them a nice paint wash, fixes the heads if they need it or if she wants to add anything to them and glues the heads onto the pot. She them calls them "Potheads" which always gives folks a nice giggle. I don't have a picture of it but this same vendor also made a great Americana display for the 4th of July holiday by taking an old banister post and drilling holes into to display a selection of flags.
This is just one sample of the many great vendors we have here a Rink and every week they alwasy surprise us with new designs!

Sweet colors of summer...

The flowers are so pretty today and rich in their summer colors that grow out in front of the store that I just thought I would share a few pics. If you want to see them live this is the month to come on out to store while their are at the summer peak!

Creative Re-Use

Recycling and antiques, vintage, and retro merchandise go hand and hand. You know the saying "what's old is new again" and have seen all the shows on TV and in magazines promoting "Salvage Style". Well here at Rink Gallery many of our vendors are not only great at hunting down great used goods but are also very creative and can salvage one person's roadside castoff into a beautiful and useful item for your home, office, or studio, etc. Check back to our blog often for great ideas and see some of the goods we have available in the store.(just note that items posted are meant to inspire and may not actually still be available by the time you come into the store, but that doesn't mean something just as awesome may not be around!) With this blog some of the samples are an old broken bed comverted to a great bench, a door painted to be a functional piece of art(can hang as art, use as room seperater, or can use as an door still) , and a screen that has become a jewelry display.
